Zenescope’s Ralph Tedesco and Joe Brusha started a small indie comic book company in 2005 and have watched it grow rapidly ever since. Now they’re here to offer tips and advice on developing your own indie comic book. From idea to story development to artwork to pitching your series to publishers. Zenescope executive editor Raven Gregory and Zenescope art director David Seidman also join the discussion to share their own experiences of how they broke into such a competitive market. If you ever wanted to create and develop your own comic, this is the Wizard School class you definitely want to attend! T-shirts and DVDs will be raffled off and all attendees will receive a choice of free comics so don’t miss this panel!

The Award-Winning “Battlestar Galactica” Star Will Be On Hand To Greet Fans
Congers, NY (April 14, 2008) – Wizard World, the largest family-friendly comics and pop culture convention in the central US returns to Philadelphia May 30-June 1 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Fan-favorite and award-winning actress Katee Sackhoff of the television show Battlestar Galactica will be attending the 2008 convention.
Ronald D. Moore’s initially controversial reimagining of the 1970s cult series Battlestar Galactica has won critical acclaim and legions of fans with its unprecedented realism, complex plotlines, and top notch performances. Sackhoff portrays hotshot pilot Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, a role originally played by Dirk Benedict. Sackhoff’s brutally honest and tenacious performance reassured fans that she was perfect for the role. Since its debut in 2003, Sackhoff has been nominated for a Saturn award three times, one of which led to a win.
During her Saturday appearance, Sackhoff will be on hand to meet her fans and sign autographs.

Congers, NY (April 14, 2008) – The Wizard World comic convention is coming to Philadelphia from May 30th to June 1st, and they’re bringing with them an array of events containing major reveals and exciting news for the toy industry! The convention will host the 1st Annual ToyFare Hall of Fame Awards, an awards ceremony created for the sole purpose of honoring and celebrating those entities that have had a significant and lasting impact on the toy industry. Along with the inaugural award ceremony, Wizard World Philadelphia will also showcase numerous How-To-Sculpt workshops with noted sculptors and company overviews and panels packed with exclusive information!
The Wizard World Philadelphia convention will include:
· The 1st Annual ToyFare Hall of Fame Awards, where “ToyFare” Magazine will honor three entities for their significant contributions to and impact on the toy industry. This year’s inaugural inductees are Randy Falk of NECA, Clayburn Moore and the Four Horsemen. The ceremony for the 1st Annual ToyFare Hall of Fame Awards will be held on Friday, May 30th at 5 PM in the ToyFare Theatre.

Mick Foley, The Iron Sheik and Al Snow are just some of the names scheduled to put the convention in a choke hold from May 30th to June 1st. Mankind, Dude Love, Cactus Jack – Mick Foley is a WWE wrestling superstar by any name. Foley is also the #1 best-selling author of the autobiographical “Have A Nice Day!” and “Foley Is Good,” writer of three children’s books and fan of sock puppets everywhere! The Iron Sheik is known for his feuds with Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, Sgt. Slaughter and countless other legends from the WWE. His recent appearances on The Howard Stern Show have won him a new audience that he now entertains live on the Howard Stern “Killers of Comedy” tour. Wrestling sensation Al Snow is a former WWE Hardcore, Eurpoean, and Tag team Champion and is the current trainer for MTV’s Tough Enough.

THE IRON SHEIK IS COMING TO WW PHILLY!

The Iron Sheik will be dominating the convention, signing autographs and taking on all who challenge him! Known for his feuds with Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, Sgt. Slaughter and countless other legends from the WWE, the Iron Sheik easily became one of the greatest wrestling villains of all time. During his tenure with the WWE, the Iron Sheik became not only the WWE World Champion but Tag Team Champion and winner of the first Battle Royal as well.
After conquering the ring, the Iron Sheik moved on to find a whole new fan base by conquering the world of radio. His appearances on The Howard Stern Show have won him a new audience that he now entertains live on the Howard Stern “Killers of Comedy” tour. The Iron Sheik is still entertaining audiences across the country almost thirty years after debuting with the WWE.

ANDY KUBERT COMING TO WW PHILLY!

One of the most successful artists of the last twenty years, Kubert has worked on such mega-hit titles as Batman, X-Men, and Captain America. Kubert’s buzzed about run with Grant Morrison on Batman has been some of the best work of his career. Their revolutionary run together wowed readers with the introduction of Batman’s son Damian and gave Kubert the chance to illustrate ninja man-bats! Kubert has also turned out some stunning covers for DC, including issues of Nightwing and Northlanders as well as covers for the trades of Countdown: Arena, Countdown to Final Crisis and Batman: The Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul. Before going exclusive with DC he was Marvel’s go-to guy for big events, working on Origin, 1602, and Ultimate Iron Man.
